Belmont Service Corps
Skyline Party Gives Back
|
In minds of students at Belmont University, even the most improbable dreams can be accomplished with time and effort. But for all 400 members of the largest student organization on campus—Belmont Service Corps—those most improbable dreams are already coming true. Each year, students do everything from work the red carpet at the Grammys in Los Angeles to serve as assistants at the Sundance Film Festival in Salt Lake City. In these opportunities they step up to impart leadership and exceptional service on the entertainment industry. Belmont Service Corps has been widely recognized as an organization of student leaders who donate their time and talent to volunteering at prominent entertainment events in order to build experience, gain knowledge and most of all-give back to the industry that has been the foundation of their dreams.
On the evening of August 31st, the breathtaking Nashville skyline was the backdrop to Belmont Service Corps’ first annual Skyline Event, a member-produced fundraiser held to give back to the community and raise funds for the Nashville Gilda’s Club and Mario Lemieux Foundation. Approximately 500 guests arrived at the red carpet gala atop the university’s Curb Parking Garage to show their support for the cause. Due to generous contributions from Sony BMG, Universal Music Group Nashville, Rock Solid Security, Red Bull, Subway and country recording artist Luke Bryan, Belmont Service Corps was
able to raise over $700 for the honorary organizations.
“I am so proud to say that the Skyline Event was one of the greatest accomplishments the organization has ever seen,” said Bob Foglia, President. For the first time, we were able to take what we have learned over the years of volunteering at industry events across the nation, to create, plan and successfully implement an event that undoubtedly raised awareness of those fighting a tough battle against illness throughout the Nashville community.”
The Skyline Party, which included musical performances by members Madison Hardy, Greg Bates and EMI Publishing’s Brett McLaughlin, was Belmont Service Corps’ first independent event dedicated solely to giving back to the community for its consistent support and belief in student education.
“We were glad to be able to give back to Music City, because it is home to those organizations who have believed in us enough throughout the years to grant us the learning opportunities we needed to deepen our experience in the entertainment industry,” said Foglia. “We are so fortunate, as part of Belmont University’s Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business, to have experienced the things most people only dream of.”
