Tennessee Christian Chamber of Commerce
Bringing Ministry to the Marketplace
|
While researching Christian business associations on the Internet, Celeste LaReau, founder of the Tennessee Christian Chamber of Commerce (TNCCC), discovered nearly 20 Christian chambers of commerce across the country have developed independently within the last few years. She recognized a need, a seed was planted and the TNCCC was born.
Celeste’s goal was to create an “umbrella” for the Christian business community and to provide resources, networking opportunities, seminars and business events to help effect positive change in their business climates. With the TNCCC, Celeste has provided the “glue” to help businesses effectively apply biblical principles in the marketplace.
“It is less intimidating to invite someone to a business function than it is to invite them to church,” Celeste asserts. She believes our society is losing moral ground because many believers compartmentalize their faith from their work life. Through the TNCCC, members learn to bridge the gap between their faith and the marketplace and how to represent Christ within the business realm.
The TNCCC has a denominationally eclectic group of supporters, including Belmont, Trevecca, and Lipscomb Universities. Their membership is growing rapidly with much credit to the emphasis on transacting business with others professionals who share common faith-based values. The TNCCC vision “to empower and position all business professionals for success and marketplace impact for Jesus Christ” is well on its way to fruition.
